Tacos Tonaya #2 sits on the corner of walnut and West 3rd, an area heavily populated by multiple student housing areas and attracts many students in during their late nights. Late Saturday night? Tacos Tonaya's open until 2 a.m. on Sunday early morning. Dependable for almost any time of day, well except on Sundays-off to church to praise the Lord and Savior and pray for good fortune. Walking home, I myself pass it every now and then, and it is heavily impacted by the student population arriving for the Mexican food. Always there for some good tacos.

Menu

As a Mexican restaurant, Tacos Tonaya #2 has quite the reputation to uphold for those further down in southern California. They have a variety to please the customers-Mexican specialty dishes, tacos, burritos, fries with the infamous carne asada. There is a lot to choose from. Rumors say that their California burrito is their most attractive dish. 

Mexican Food Competition?

Sure there might just be multiple taco restaurants going up and down Nord and Walnut, but Tacos Tonaya #2 has something they don't. MORE than just tacos. Although Taco trucks only specialize in one food-its in the name-, an actual restaurant doesn't fear losing customers in the taco market. 
Tacos Tonaya #2 seems to have met lots of expectations for breakfast and lunch.

The students residing in Chico always have an open mouth ready to say something, ready to comment. They are not slow when it comes to complimenting one of the best Mexican restaurants in Chico. George, a starving student published how great her Mexican food was, "My meal was delicious. The salsa soaked into the flour tortilla and the cheese on top was melted perfectly. The rice had cheese melted into it as well, which tasted great mixed with the beans," (Starving Student: Tacos Tonaya feels authentic, Kendall George). Of course, people on Yelp aren't silent either, "Their California Burrito or the torta is my go-to. Pretty quick, good service," (Tacos Tonaya #2, Christian E.). Tacos Tonaya #2 has 4-stars, I might just check out the "Cali-Burrito", see if it will make me fat in a week.

IS IT ACTUALLY GOOD?  It's a good question to ask yourself before you step foot in any restaurant. You don't want to embarrass the cooking staff, or in this case, the barista. I take a glance inside and there's a room full of college students, a few hipsters, and even a few old people of Chico.
